Join us for a 1-day Balboa workshop! The workshop is for both beginners (with no prior Balboa experience) AND folks who have some Balboa and want to refine their technique. We will throw in some challenges for those who are ready to tackle a bit more. We will touch on classic moves with historical influence and more modern ideas. Our goal is to give you some foundational knowledge to then go play around and make the dance your own! After all, it is an improvisational dance! Balboa is a swing dance that developed in the LA area in the 30s and 40s. It is known for its close embrace (Pure Balboa) and twisty movements with lots of turns (Bal-Swing). Balboa can be danced to a wide range of tempos and is particularly great for dancing to those high tempos without getting tired (or too sweaty)! David Lee & Amanda Gerken hail from Washington, DC and are excited to come out to Carlisle! They have competed and placed in multiple national competitions, teach weekly Balboa classes, and spread their love of Balboa everywhere they can. Cost is $45. You may pre register on our website. Our regular Saturday beginner Lindy Hop lesson will start at 7:30pm, followed by a social at 8:30pm. Come back and join us to practice the skills you learned in the workshop.
